This beautiful beach is only a 50-minute drive from Auckland CBD. Home to black iron sands, sweeping winds, and thumping surf, the dramatic beauty of Piha makes it a must-see place for any visitor to Auckland. The long stretches of sand are perfect for long walks. Surfing is year round – although cold in the winter! The rips and currents are tricky so always swim between the flags, and beginner surfers are advised to go with an instructor.
